Are you looking for ways to save on your heating bill this winter? Longmont Plumbing and Heating offers you suggestions to help save on your heating bill.
1. Why heat the house when no one is home! The best solution is to install a programmable thermostat. This allows you to keep the house at one temperature while you are awake and roaming the house, another temperature for when you sleep and then a different temperature while you are away at work.
2. Install a storm door to keep more warm air in your home and if it’s a south facing door, the sunlight will help warm your home.
3. Have your furnace serviced and cleaned. Your furnace will run more efficiently, saving you money as you heat your house.
4. Open the blinds and drapes during the day and close them at night. During the day, the sun will shine in your house and warm it up, and at night close them so the heat stays inside.
5. Close heating ducts in rooms or basements that aren’t being used.
6. Do you use your fireplace to heat your home? If not think about sealing it shut for the winter. You would be surprised at home much warm air escapes through a fireplace.
7. As we all know warm air rises, so use ceiling fans to push the warm air down and around your house. This will utilize the warm air more efficiently.
